Peterson Air Force Base: Built in 1942 and sharing an airfield with the Colorado Springs Airport, Peterson Air Force Base is home to the 21st Space Wing, North American Aerospace Defense Command and United States Northern Command headquarters.
Schriever Air Force Base: With over 8100 personnel assigned to the installation, Schriever Air Force Base is located 10 miles east of Colorado Springs and home to the 50th Space Wing, the Space Innovation and Development Center, the Missile Defense Agency, 310th Space Wing and numerous other organizations.
Air Force Academy: Located west of I-25 and Academy Boulevard, The United States Air Force Academy is a Colorado Springs treasure. With a mission is to educate, train, and inspire men and women to become officers of character who are motivated to lead the United States Air Force, The Academy is home to the Air Force Falcons, nearly 5000 students as well as teachers and personnel with a goal of providing tomorrow’s leaders with a stellar academic and military education. NORAD: The North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) is a United States and Canada bi-national organization charged with the missions of aerospace warning and aerospace control for North America. Aerospace warning includes the detection, validation, and warning of attack against North America whether by aircraft, missiles, or space vehicles, through mutual support arrangements with other commands. Located within Cheyenne Mountain, those of us from Colorado Springs have come to love the installation’s annual tracking of Santa!
Fort Carson: Known as the best hometown in America, Fort Carson is home to the 4th Infantry Division, the 3rd BCT, 43rd ASG, 3rd ACR, 5th Armored Brigade, 13th Air Support Operations Squadron, and the 10th Special Forces Group. Encompassing over 137,000 acres, the installation is located on the southern end of El Paso County and is a major employer in the Colorado Springs area.
